Technology is integrated in all grades as part of the daily academic program. Since the 1960’s, Dexter has been on the cutting edge of technology, and improvements are made continuously to keep up with new standards. Faculty use technology ithroughout their teaching. Personal computing devices have also become a tool used by many students.
Each year, families have more options about platforms and access to School resources. For classes 4-6, all applications that the student will need will be available through a website provided by the School. This website provides access to a virtual desktop of the School's cloud-based computer system. This is the same virtual desktop that the students have been using while on campus.
Students in Classes 7-12 participate in a one to one technology program, the details of which are on the
7-12 Technology page. Mobile devices have became a core resource in the curriculum. For instance, integrating virtual lab exercises on laptops in several classes enabled students to conduct experiments in class as well as review the same exercise while studying. Students may also use laptops in conjunction with the class text or replace the text entirely with an electronic version.
